The Lone Star Lutheran newspaper at Texas Lutheran University began publication with Volume 1 in 1917. We don’t have copies of that issue, but you can find a few papers as far back as 1932 online.
Our hundredth year was spent in a yearlong strategic planning process to reboot TLU Student Media. You can read all about it by clicking on the image of The Torch story about that process. We want to make media that students are excited about, not newspapers students use of pack glassware at the end of the semester, in the words of a previous editor.
After a year of planning and soul-searching, this year we begin publication again.
We will publish four media projects a year. Our first issue drops at the end of October. Each project/issue will have a specific focus, and each issue will come in different forms. We have a video series, a print magazine, an Instagram series, etc. planned for this year. But each issue will also have an online presence here on our website, so please consider subscribing via the button over on the right.
And in the meantime, follow us on our social media accounts, as well. You can meet our editors and find our calls for contributors.
We are excited to be back in business!
